6 Reasons Why Affiliates Fail

The fundamentals of successful affiliate marketing are quite simple. You create a website and produce leads and drive traffic to your site. As a result, your website attract clicks, which in turn generate sales.

Yes, it looks simple as that. However, people fail in affiliate marketing at an amazing high rate – approximately 85% to 98% failure rate for new affiliates.

There are some good reasons why most affiliate marketers fail to make money online. The bottom line is that affiliate marketers should play with certain rules; otherwise the opportunities of making money online are close to zero.

Here are my six reasons why affiliates fail to make money online:

Build too many sites

Some people claim that the more affiliate sites you build, the more chances of making money from affiliates. I have seen many people have fallen into this trap.

The problem for this is that building too many sites at the beginning will dilute your efforts on link building and content creation.

My suggestion is that you should just simply stick to one site at the beginning. Once you begin to generate decent revenue, then you can diversify with different sites.

I will catch up tomorrow

Affiliate marketing is a difficult work. Once your site is built and working, you need to spend more time working as an affiliate than you would in a conventional job. You have to spend a minimum of a couple of hours on a daily basis on writing contents and building links.

You have to keep up with your daily schedule. This is a huge motivator for many people. Unfortunately, many new affiliates start off full of good purposes but then fall into the trap of “ I will catch up tomorrow”.

Impractical expectations

I have seen many new affiliate marketers start to complain of not seeing any profits in three months after they set up their affiliate websites and some of them just simply gave up.

Do NOT expect instant success. You will not be successful overnight. Building a successful affiliate website takes time. It requires your efforts, degree of drive and self-determination that many new affiliates lack.

Promote more, help less

Many new affiliate marketers have one mistake in common. They rush to fill their contents with affiliate links and simply wait and hope these links generate money for them.

The problem for this is that they fail to help audiences understand why they should purchase this product or service. In fact, people would like to hear from other people when making a decision to make a purchase.

When we perform more like an impartial explainer rather than a serious salesperson, we will find we have more sales and returned customers coming back for advice.

Not taking action

As a new affiliate, we are bombarded by new knowledge that we would never touch in our life before we become an affiliate. We spend hours upon hours on online training courses and reading books. However, we will never seem to get around to applying anything we learn. That was a mistake I had at the early stage of my online business

Take action, NOW!

Don’t  do homework first

Many new affiliates just simply pick an affiliate program without doing any research first. This is one of the important reasons why some affiliate marketers fail to earn money online. To select an affiliate program, you have to make sure that the selected affiliate product or service have high demand and are easy to sell.
