 mistakes on blogging 640x320

Starting a blog is a good way to express yourself and join the online community, and at the same time you can make a passive income if you get enough traffic. However, starting a blog can also be overwhelming especially when you are new to blogging. You may make mistakes that many other novices do. These mistakes could have a negative impact on the success of your blog.

To help correct your futures approaches and make your blog as best as possible, here are 7 common mistakes to avoid when you begin to blog.

1. Try to be like someone

The fact is that no matter what topic you choose to blog about, there are many other blogs that have the similar topics as yours. You have to figure out your own ways to blog, which are different from others. Don’t try to imitate someone you like or admire in your field and find out the unique offering you have.

2. Have more than one niche in one blog

Here is one of the most common questions asked by people who are new to blog:

Should I blog on one niche or should I blog on multiple niches?

Surely, it doesn’t matter whether your blog have multiple niches If you create a blog for personal interests and you can blog on any topics or niches you like. However, when you want to make money from your blog, having more than one niche is not a good idea. This may negatively affect your blog because different niches can attract different audiences to your site. Thus, it will be difficult to build a readership for your blog.

If you are really looking to write about for different niches, then you’d better to create separate blogs for different niches.

3. Don’t share your content

When you blog for business, you should have as many social media sites as possible. These platforms provide many different options to share information. Make sure you content is easy to share. You should add share buttons for your contents and make this easy for your audiences to tell their friends about you.

4. Create contents unrelated to your niche

Many newbies might have a life experience or have some interesting stories that they would like to tell others. They simply believe that it is great if they share it with their audiences. However, your audiences who come back to visit your site are only interested in the niche content you create and don’t care much about the things that are irrelevant to the niche content.

So please avoid to create content irrelevant to your niche because it will probably drive your audiences away.

5. Don’t include images in your contents

Photos have become the “universal language”. Many successful social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. are the names on everyone’s lips as they have included the visual medium.

You should include images in your contents because not only an article with images can attract more total views, but also images have become interactive if you use a platform like Pinterest.

6. Don’t use simple words

The truth is that most people don’t want to have to think too hard when they are reading your content. You should try to create content by using simple words and make it easy to read for your audiences. For example, try to write use rather than implement, important rather than imperative. Use longer words only if you cannot find other simple words for replacement.

7. Don’t use SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is important to the success of a blog. You have the opportunity to add specific keywords for each post that make your content show up on top of search engines from the organic research results. There are a lot of features to think about when talking about SEO, but it is important to understand it and implement it as soon as possible. The earlier your content is embed with SEO, the more traffic you will get on your site.
